The Latvian National Cultural Center (LNKC) has extended the deadline for applying for representatives to the Song and Dance Festival Council until May 6, as it will not receive a sufficient number of applications, LNKC representative Lana Kazlauskiene told LETA.
Non-governmental organizations, the purpose of which is related to the preservation and development of the tradition of song and dance festivals, are invited to nominate representatives in the fields of choirs, dances, brass bands, folk applied arts, folk music, traditional culture and professional music, as well as representatives of cultural centers according to their competence. for work in the Song and Dance Festival Council for the next period of operation: 2024-2028.
Applicants who have experience in the represented sector in the preparation and organization of at least two Song and Dance Festivals, who are involved in the preservation and development of the Song and Dance Festival tradition and ensuring the activities and events between the Song and Dance Festivals, can be nominated for a job in the Council.
Applicants are expected to have experience in cooperation with state and local government institutions and non-governmental organizations in the field of culture or education and may not be involved in the preparation and organization of the current Song and Dance Festival as artistic or project managers.
When applying for an applicant, the LNKC must submit an application justifying the nomination of the applicant for representation in the council in the relevant sector or field, a copy of the decision or an extract of the protocol on the nomination of the applicant, a written confirmation that the applicant agrees to be a member of the council, a description of the applicant’s lifestyle and a copy of the statutes of the non-governmental organization, if the applicant is nominated non-governmental organization.
