On March 27, Daugavpils Kīmija neighborhood pre-school education institution invited pre-school education teachers to observe play lessons in person in all four places where the institution’s pre-school education programs are implemented (Šaurā iela 20, Jātnieku iela 66, Inženieru iela 16, Smilšu iela 100) of the experience exchange event “Institution’s good practice in Latvian in the creation of the environment in the 2nd stage of preschool education, integrating diverse additional content into the curriculum’.
The main achievable result of the experience exchange event was to demonstrate how PII pedagogues of Daugavpils Chemistry neighborhood create a Latvian environment, plan and implement the learning of the monthly topic in accordance with the national preschool education guidelines, integrating diverse additional content offered by the Eco-Schools Program, the Health-Promoting Schools Program, the process of change. Leader in me”, implemented projects and other work directions that the institution implements in its daily work. During the study of the whole month’s topic, the learning process is reflected on wide, varied and active “talking walls”.
Demonstrating their work and experience was a real challenge for the teachers of the 2nd stage, because 80 – 90% of the children in the institution’s family speak only Russian and at the age of 3-4 are still only in the initial stages of learning Latvian. Therefore, we are very happy about the feedback we received from the watchers of the classes: “The children understand and speak Latvian very well! Children can answer questions in Latvian, understand the task! Children tell what they have learned! Children speak very well, are active, independent! Children know many poems, speak, recite! Educators use strategies that promote language learning! Children are very knowledgeable, able to answer questions and ask a lot of questions!”
Play lessons were observed by 27 educators from Daugavpils preschool educational institutions and places where preschool education programs are implemented. The teachers of the 2nd stage, Dace Jakuceviča, Jolanta Chizhevska, Irina Ratnika, Tatjana Pimanova, Tatjana Esmane, Sandra Maslovska, Olga Shershnova, Svetlana Liszczynska, Ludmila Locsika, Yuliya Oruba, Jelena Malina, Nataša Shchelkune, showed their experience in leading the final play lessons of the month’s theme with the teacher The collegial support of Irīna Peipina, Anita Bačkure, Ludmila Soldatenkova, Lidija Rachko, Kristīne Dunaiska, Lāsma Lauska and teacher assistants. A total of 9 play lessons were offered to the attention of the guests on the topics learned in the month of March: “What happens on the windowsill in spring?”, “What happens with water in spring?”, “What happens in spring around the kindergarten?”, “What happens in spring in the forest?”.
