“Intersex relations are a very problematic issue in Latvia. On the one hand, the rights of non-binary persons appeared, on the other hand, I think that we currently do not understand how to build relationships between men and women,” said Osipova.

The judge of the Supreme Court emphasized: “On the one hand, we want our children to be knowledgeable and protected from sexual harassment, on the other hand, we will take out of the libraries books that explain to children how to call the genitals.” But the child cannot be protected if you cannot see what is happening to him. All these things are interconnected.”

As reported, cases of sexual harassment in Latvian universities that have come to light in the last month have both shaken society and shaken those in power. The Minister of Justice Inese Lībiņa-Egnere (JV) has proposed criminal liability for sexual harassment, thus allowing victims of violence to receive the necessary support and protection.

In an interview with “900 seconds”, Osipova said that in this matter, it is necessary to start with public education and to teach individuals how to respectfully build relationships between the sexes.

“Criminalizing it will not solve the fact that the person will not report or understand what it is that is not allowed,” Osipova added.
