The state will grant 3,795 euros to the municipal government of Bauskas county for deterring drunkards – BauskasDzive.lv

This week, the government decided to allocate 359,287 euros to local governments to cover services for the recovery of intoxicated persons last year.

Thus, it is planned to cover the expenses incurred by local governments in 2023 by providing 24-hour recovery services to persons who are in a state of helplessness under the influence of alcohol.

Up to 15 euros are allocated for each person placed in the recovery room.

The most funds are planned to be allocated to Riga – 124,087 euros. If the maximum amount of 15 euros was paid for each person, cleaning services were provided more than 8,000 times in Riga last year.

According to the Law on Local Governments, it is the responsibility of the local authority to ensure the availability of sanitation services. In Bauska county, there is no sewage treatment plant available. The municipal police, upon finding persons who have lost the ability to move independently due to alcohol consumption, act in accordance with the Law “On the Police”. The municipality has concluded an agreement with the association “Latvijas Sarkanais Krusts” (LSK), which stipulates that the service provider provides a shelter service at the LSK social center “Gaiziņš” at Gaiziņa street 7 in Riga. Customers are brought by the municipal police of Bauska region.
