The stage of the Neikenkalns nature concert hall and the Silver grove are being restored

The stage renovation works have been started for the Neikenkalns nature concert hall, which is located in the cradle of the Latvian Song Festival in Diklia, in order to preserve the cultural and historical significance of the concert hall territory and to continue highlighting the tradition of choral movements and singing together in Latvia. We will also restore the author’s work of the artist Ivars Mailīš – the silver grove crown, which depicts a symbolic connection between the silver grove mentioned in Latvian folk songs and today, between Riga and Diklia.

Currently, dismantling works have started. SIA “Rg master” repairs will be made to the choir terrace, the low and high stage. SIA “JGM” the environmental object “Sidraba birzs” will be remade. 10 years have passed since the creation of the concert hall and environmental facility. The works will be completed by June so that the big concert “First Singing Festival in Diklia – 160” can be held successfully.

Neikenkalns nature concert hall was established in 2014. The project was evaluated as the “Best Building of the Year in Latvia 2014” in the “Landscape” category and in 2022 received the diploma of the “Landscape Award of the Council of Europe” competition of the General Secretariat of the Council of Europe. Concerts are regularly held in the concert hall, as well as the territory of the concert hall itself with natural values, environmental objects, as well as the rich cultural and historical traditions of Dikļi, which can be explored by walking along the Song Festival Trail, attracts visitors and tourists from Latvia and abroad.

In general, Valmiera municipality will invest 77,463.43 euros in renovation works according to the results of the price survey and procurement, as well as the signed contracts.
