Continuation of Ziepniekkalns thriller: while trying to escape from the police, a man jumps out of the fifth floor window

Late in the evening, there was an insistent knocking in the apartment at 53 Valdeku Street. The man looked through the “eye” of the door and saw that several policemen were standing in the stairwell. The suspect did not know what to do. His parents were also standing in the room, who soon panicked.

While the mother and father were shouting excitedly, the son grabbed several sheets in the bedroom and made a rope. The man hung it from the fifth floor window and climbed down until his arms lost strength and he fell from a considerable height. Despite his injuries, the suspect tried to run, hoping to escape from the police.

Several neighbors watched the action thriller with open mouths from the sidelines. “I had the window open, I heard something fall. I looked out the window and heard a voice. There, as once, two guys passed by. They went straight to the balcony. After that they got to a stop and one of them started calling on the phone, at first I thought it was called “ambulance”. After that, I turned away for a moment, but there was already the neighbor Zhenya running across the sidewalk to the place where he was sleeping and that was it. After that, I saw that the police were already running and there with him,” says the neighbor Nagežda.

The man was seriously injured and the police called medics to the scene. “He kept screaming that he was in pain until they put a compress around his waist, secured his neck, then took a special extendable stretcher, picked him up, laid him down, put him on a cart and took him away,” says Nikolays, a resident of the house.

Last Friday, it was reported about the arrest in Ziepniekalni, where the police used a firearm and an electric shock to stop an inadequate man. The driver of the Audi fled in reverse until the law enforcement officers shot through the vehicle’s tires. This did not scare the man and he continued to run away on foot. The law enforcement officers detained him briefly and the man returned to his parents’ apartment on Valdeķu Street. Neighbors have reason to suspect that this is the same person who jumped out of the window on Tuesday to avoid arrest.

“It was said that he had set someone’s car on fire. The police checked it out. The police called him at the door, open it, arrest him for burning a car,” says neighbor Nikolay.

The man suffered an electric shock on Friday, but was injured after a heavy fall on Tuesday. After the second escape attempt in a couple of days, the man is now in solitary confinement awaiting the decision of the law enforcement authorities.

“For committing such a particularly serious crime, for damaging someone else’s property by burning, the law provides for deprivation of liberty for a period of up to ten years. As well as probation supervision for a period of up to three years, or without it,” explains State Police representative Gita Gžibovska.
