On Easter, the air temperature in Latvia can reach +22 degrees, forecasters predict.
According to the data of the Center for Environment, Geology and Meteorology of Latvia, the highest air temperature recorded in the country in the first month of spring so far is +20.8 degrees on March 30, 1968 in Mērsrag. On the other hand, the heat record for March 31 and April 1 is +19.1 degrees, which was registered in 2010 in Rucava and in 2017 in Stande, respectively.
On Maundy Thursday, the amount of clouds will be small and changeable, the southeast wind will intensify again during the day in gusts up to 10-15 meters per second, the air temperature will reach +12..+17 degrees, only on the Kurzeme coast of the Gulf of Riga the thermometer will not rise higher than +8 degrees in some places.
Rain is expected on Thursday evening and Friday night, starting from the southwest of the country; On Good Friday, rain is forecast mainly in the eastern part of Latvia. The air temperature will not fall below +3..+8 degrees at night, during the day, when the sun shines, it will rise to +9..+14 degrees, but on the windward coast, with a moderate west wind, only +5..+7 degrees are expected.
On the night of Saturday in many parts of the country and during the day it will only rain in places, the air temperature will rise to +12..+17 degrees in the afternoon, cooler weather will remain in parts of the coast.
On Easter Sunday, the temperature will probably rise to +17..+22 degrees, the warmest weather is expected in the south of the country. Summer warmth may also persist into the Second Easter, it will depend on the direction of the cyclones.
According to the current forecast of the “Global Forecast System” next week, the air temperature will drop sharply, frost and snow are also possible.
