Two French movie stars join the Cannes Film Festival jury

--

French film stars Omar Sy and Eva Green will participate in the jury work at next month’s Cannes Film Festival, the organizers announced on Monday.

The jury will also include Oscar-nominated American actress Lily Gladstone, who has received several awards for her role in Martin Scorsese’s 2023 film “Killers of the Flower Moon”.

The 37-year-old actress will be the youngest member of the jury.

Greta Gerwig, director of the film “Barbie”, will be the chairman of the jury of the upcoming festival from May 14 to 25.

The jury will have to select a work from among the 22 films of the main screening of the competition, which will be awarded with the highest award of the festival – the Golden Palm branch.

Among the films in competition screening are Francis Ford Coppola’s long-awaited work “Megalopolis” (“Megapolis”) and Iranian-born director Ali Abbasi’s film “The Apprentice” (“The Apprentice”) – a biographical drama about the life of Donald Trump.

Sy is one of the biggest names in French cinema today and is known internationally for his role in the Netflix series Lupin.

Among Green’s best-known works is the role of Vesper Linda in the 2006 James Bond movie “Casino Royale”. She has also starred in several other big-budget Hollywood films.
