A survey conducted in the United States indicated that approximately one in three Americans still consume digital content in a pirated manner. One of the main reasons is the high subscription fees of streaming services.

It’s no secret that a number of digital content streaming services have sprung up over the past decade, each offering original and exclusive content as well. Consequently, the consumer often has to subscribe to several services, which are consumed relatively rarely. However, at the end of the month, the total cost is very high.

Americans polled indicated that some still consume pirated content. It also shows that 76% of Generation Z and 28% of Baby Boomers would use pirated content. It should be mentioned that the survey can be perceived in different ways, as it does not specifically say that the main reason for piracy is high prices, but indicates that the respondents have watched a film or series without permission in the last 12 months.

The main guideline indicates that consumers are not interested in paying a monthly fee for a movie or series that will be watched once a month and once a year. Similar to the case with television service providers, only a couple of channels are used on a daily basis out of a wide range. Which drags some consumers into the clutches of countless subscription services. We can assume that pirated content will not disappear from our daily lives so quickly.
