Saulkrasti Choir “Anima” released the song “Lec, saulite, rīta agri!”, as well as its video. It stars actress Madara Botman.
The song is based on the two lines of the Latvian folk song “Lec, saulīte, rīta agri, lec ar Dieva podomin’!”, performed by soloists Laura Leontjeva and Elīna Ose together with the choir “Anima”, but the original musical sound was created by composer Kristaps Krievkalns, whose anniversary concerts this spring this song will also be heard. “The composer dressed the words of the folk song in a sonically wide musical Latvian natural landscape, which strives for light, for hope, for consolation.
The video for the song features actress Madara Botman, whose performance “depicts a harsh and heartbreaking story of a woman about reaching the seemingly lowest point in her life, after which she chooses to get up, go, endure, pray, break free and be healed.” “I found out about the breadth of Madara’s world of feelings and talent while filming this video in not the most favorable weather conditions, but it was exactly what was needed to experience a real outburst of emotions,” says video director Laura Leontyeva.
“Lec, saulite, rītas agri!”, as well as the choral music cycle “Krastā sāvalontos” performed by the choir “Anima” will be performed at the 50th anniversary concerts of Kristaps Krievkalns. The first of them – already on April 7 in Cēsis, V
