“Everything is in our hands and in the hands of the Ukrainians.” Rajev tells what two things must be done to stop Russia in the long term

“In the short term, Russia has the advantage – we know that, that’s how it happens, but what can be done to stop it and to be able to achieve a positive result in the long term? In order to do this, there are two things,” said NBS reserve colonel and member of the 14th Saeima (non-partisan) Igors Rajevs in the TV24 program “About the war in Ukraine with Igor Rajevs”, while discussing current events at the front in Ukraine.

In the program, Rajev recalled what was reported in the study of the Ministry of Defense of Estonia that 2024 is the year of defense, while 2025 and 2026 are the years of victory. In order to achieve this, two things must be done. “The first is the mobilization of the Ukrainian army. And secondly, the West must increase the supply of military equipment from the existing equipment stocks,” explained the NBS reserve colonel.

Expert Rajev added that he has positive news. “If we look at what is happening, the first thing is that the Parliament of Ukraine passed a decision on the mobilization law. And now we see that it is starting to materialize – units, personnel will appear, because in the Ukrainian army, as I said, not only equipment is a problem, but also the lack of people is starting to become a problem, so its mobilization is extremely important,” says Rajev.

On the other hand, when talking about the existing equipment stocks of the Western countries, the “23 billion [ASV dolāru] from the USA”, emphasized the NBS reserve colonel in the TV24 program. “Great Britain is doing the same now with the return of its AS-90 howitzers, and probably all the other European armies that have some other stockpile of weapons that they could share should do the same,” said Rajev.

Will it be enough for European countries to share their stocks of military equipment? Rajev, demonstrating the schedule in the TV24 program “About the war in Ukraine with Igor Rajev”, admitted: “I will show you again – everything is ours [Rietumu] and in the hands of Ukrainians, but this is a prerequisite for us to be able to change the situation as it is now”.
