Heavy fighting continues across the front line. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandrs Sirsky, has confirmed that the situation on the battlefield is changing dynamically – unfortunately, the enemy also has tactical success.

The map shows how much territory the occupiers managed to seize in the direction of Avdijivka – since the beginning of October, while the Western partners hesitated to provide assistance.

While Western military supplies are still on their way, the Russian army managed to capture or partially capture six more villages in Donbass over the past week. Moscow is trying to advance as far as possible before American aid supplies reach Ukrainian soldiers at the front.

Currently, the two main directions are Oceretino, which is already under Russian occupation, and Chasivjara. Both of these strategic heights open the way to Kostiantynivka, the main logistics center for Ukrainian troops on the eastern front.

Having achieved tactical success in Ocheretino, the Russians have now concentrated four brigades here and have come dangerously close to the important highway Pokrovska-Kostyantinivka – this supply route is only 10 kilometers away from the positions of the occupiers. The Armed Forces of Ukraine confirm that they are currently doing everything possible to prevent the Russians from reaching this route.

“At the moment, we are doing our best to knock the enemy out of there, very heavy fighting is going on, our defense forces are trying to control the situation,” said Lt. Col. Nazar Voloshin, a soldier of the Operational Strategic Group “Khortitsa”.

Ukraine’s main intelligence agency reports that Russia is preparing to launch a major ground offensive in mid-May, apart from Donbass, the other Russian targets will be Kharkiv and Sumy. The occupiers, taking advantage of the proximity of their border, bombard these cities daily with guided aerial bombs and all kinds of artillery and missile systems. Commenting on the upcoming Russian attack, the Ukrainian General Staff said that Russia’s progress will continue depending on how quickly and to what extent Western aid arrives.

At the same time, Ukraine has expressed that there is a large concentration of occupying troops near the border on the Russian side near the Kharkiv and Sumy regions, which could carry out a large-scale offensive, without being observed at the moment. However, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are preparing for any scenario.
