German Interior Minister Nancy Fesser has called on the police to respond decisively to crimes committed during political demonstrations.

Fezer made such a statement after the Islamist rally in Hamburg on Saturday, in which more than 1,000 people participated.

Although peaceful, the protest raised allegations of Germany’s anti-Islamic policies and an anti-Islamic German media campaign.

Some of the demonstrators’ placards carried slogans such as “Caliphate is the solution” and “Germany is a dictatorship of values”.

“Seeing this kind of Islamist demonstration on our streets is difficult. It is good that the Hamburg police responded to the crime with a large presence,” the minister said in a comment that will be published in the “Tagesspiegel” newspaper on Monday.

She emphasized that the border where assembly and freedom of expression ends should be clear.

“No to “Hamas” terrorist propaganda, no to anti-Jewish hate speech. If such crimes occur, immediate, energetic intervention in the demonstration is necessary,” emphasized Fezer.

As informed by the Hamburg authorities, the people who previously announced the demonstration are related to the Muslim Interactive Group, which the Office for the Protection of the Constitution has recognized as extremist.

The security authorities are monitoring Islamist organizations, Fezere said. After the Palestinian terrorist group “Hamas” and the organization “Samidoun”, which provided support to terrorists imprisoned in Israeli prisons, were banned in Germany, other Islamist organizations are being observed.

“Our security agencies are also monitoring other groups that inflame emotions, radicalize and recruit young Islamists,” the minister wrote, adding that this also applies to the organizers of the Hamburg demonstration.
