“I hope that the chancellor feels encouraged by the events of the last few days,” Sikorskis said in an interview with the tabloid “Bild am Sonntag” and other editions of the media company “Axel Springer”.
The minister stated that the delivery of US ATACMS missiles to Ukraine is a reaction to the escalation of hostilities on the part of Russia, to which Germany must also respond.
A few days ago, it became known that Ukraine received ATACMS missiles, but the Pentagon has not provided information about specific modifications of the missiles and has not revealed whether they include missiles with a range of 300 kilometers.
However, the media reports that the USA has delivered models with the longest range.
So far, Scholz has categorically rejected the supply of “Taurus” missiles to Ukraine, claiming that it could involve Germany in a war with Russia.
“The Russians have already destroyed 70% of Ukraine’s power generation capacity,” Sikorski emphasized, adding that this is actually a war crime.
He stated that it would be wiser to prevent the destruction of Ukraine in the first place, so that less effort would be needed to rebuild Ukraine after the war, which is the subject of the Berlin conference.
