“This is misinformation. In principle, it is nothing new. Of course, this is the first case of such intimidation. The Lithuanian state does not carry out any hostile actions against other countries,” Lithuanian Armed Forces press representative Gintauts Cjunis told the BNS agency on Thursday.

Earlier on Thursday, the Russian state propaganda agency TASS quoted the head of the Belarusian State Security Committee (KGB) Ivan Tertelius as saying that the Belarusian security services had prevented drone attacks from the territory of Lithuania against objects in Minsk.

“The State Security Committee, in cooperation with colleagues from other security institutions, has recently taken several Chekist measures to prevent combat drone strikes from the territory of Lithuania against objects in Minsk and its suburbs,” Tertels claimed.

TASS does not provide more detailed information about Tertelis’ statements.

The head of the Lithuanian National Crisis Management Center, Vilmants Vitkauskas, pointed out that the statements spread by the Belarusian services about pseudo-groups allegedly staying in Lithuania and Poland and wanting to harm Belarus.

“We have been hearing such messages for a long time, they were especially active in the Baltic states during the defense exercises organized by NATO, something similar was said at the beginning of March [Baltkrievijas diktators Aleksandrs] Lukashenko. Such statements by the KGB of Belarus should be considered a continuous hostile provocation and an information attack on Lithuania that has no connection with reality,” he said.

The head of the center emphasized that this message is addressed to the internal audience of Belarus.
