“The Russians will literally devour us!” The Ukrainian commander explains the possible dangers of a ceasefire

The military explained that Russia does not, in principle, need such a break, as it does not feel the lack of people in operational areas. A similar situation can be observed with the enemy’s ability to replenish equipment reserves.

Pivnenko believes that Ukraine should destroy the occupiers more quantitatively. If the Armed Forces of Ukraine were able to implement such a thing within six months, a certain result would be visible by the end of the year, he estimates.

But there is also the other side of the coin, he admits to the publication: If we give Russia the opportunity to “rest” for two or three years, to gather more strength, it will attack us again and continue the war with new vigor. Therefore, Kyiv will not leave the military direction, otherwise Russia will slowly bite the whole of Ukraine, two or three meters at a time everywhere, explained Pivnenko.

“And in 20 years they will swallow us whole,” he warned.

Pivnenko believes that Russia’s problem is not its leader Putin – anything can be imposed on the country’s population in general. “They don’t even have questions – Ukrainians, Poles or anyone else. It’s just that they haven’t yet given an order on television that some other country is an enemy of the Russian Federation,” he said.

The commander of the National Guard believes that if Russia had not fought with old methods, “classics”, when it uses two or three directions and defines one as the main one, then Ukraine could really lose Kharkiv. At the same time, Kharkiv is already a difficult story for Ukraine. It is constantly under fire in an attempt to destroy critical and civilian infrastructure.

He summarized that the capture of Kharkiv would take Russia several years, recalling how the enemy “spent” a long time in the battles for Bakhmut and Avdiyivka, killing thousands of soldiers.

In the same interview, Alexander Pivnenko predicted that the mobilization process will improve in the country and that more Ukrainians will express their desire to voluntarily join the armed forces of Ukraine.

The military noted that Ukrainians unite when the enemy puts more pressure on them: when the nation feels the risk of a threat, they join. Pivnenko said that the situation with mobilization could improve this summer.
