Police intervened when about 60 students gathered for a demonstration at the Paris Institute of Political Science (“Sciences Po”) on Wednesday evening.

“After discussions with management, most of them agreed to leave,” university officials said, adding that the protest had increased tensions at the university.

But a small group of students refused to leave and it was decided that police would disperse the protesters, university officials said. The school regretted that attempts to get the students to leave the premises peacefully have not been successful.
