Without American help, Ukraine will not be able to win the war against Russia, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said in an interview with CBS.

The president was asked whether Ukraine would lose without US support.

“It’s true,” Zelensky replied. “We are losing. Not in one day. Of course we will lose some of our territories.”

“It will be a big challenge for us, how to recover all of them afterwards. They are big sacrifices for us. Recovering territories means losing people. People, to be honest, are more important, but we know that [Krievijas diktators Vladimirs] Putin wants to destroy us completely,” the president said.

“All his messages are about the fact that he does not recognize Ukraine, Ukrainians, does not recognize that we exist. For him, we are a satellite of the Russian Federation,” explained Zelensky.

“Now us. Then Kazakhstan, then the Baltic states, then Poland. Then Germany, at least half of Germany. He will come back, he will not forgive them in the eighties, but then the nineties,” the president said.

“You don’t need to change his opinion. You have to change him. You have to change him,” summed up Zelensky.

Ukraine is in dire need of US air defense systems, the president admitted.

Currently, all air defense systems that Ukraine has are brought from Europe.

The US has Patriot systems, and five of seven such systems “will protect our industrial platforms in Ukraine,” the president explained.

75 to 80% of US financial aid stays in the country because the weapons either belong to the US or are produced there, Zelensky said.
