Our victory at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys last Saturday was Barcelona’s first defeat on home soil in five years – and it means if we win or draw on Saturday, we will secure our place in our second Women’s Champions League.

When and where?
Stamford Bridge is the venue for the second leg of our UEFA Women’s Champions League semi-final with Barcelona. The game takes place on Saturday April 27, kick-off is 5.30pm.

The form
The Blues are unbeaten in European competition since last year’s meeting with Barcelona at Stamford Bridge. That run now stands at 10 games with our first leg win the most recent in the sequence.
Emma Hayes’s side topped Group D with four wins and two draws to reach the knockout stage. We then saw off Ajax over two legs in the quarter-final to secure our place in the last four.
Barcelona finished top in Group A and then got past Norwegian side Brann over two legs in the last eight. Domestically, the Catalans top Liga F having won 22 out of 23 league fixtures.
Recent head-to-head
We secured our maiden victory over Barcelona in last week’s first leg. That came in our fourth meeting with the Blaugrana.
The Blues were narrowly beaten by Barcelona at the same stage of the Champions League last season. The Catalans won the first leg 1-0 at Stamford Bridge with Caroline Graham Hansen on target for the visitors that day.
It was then on to the Camp Nou for the second leg. Both teams were well matched once more, but the home side added their second of the tie when Hansen again found the net.
A goal from Guro Reiten brought the Blues level but it wasn’t enough to seal our passage to the final, which Barcelona would go on to win.
What comes next
After our European exertions the Blues return to domestic matters with a midweek Women’s Super League clash.
The Blues travel to Merseyside to face Liverpool on Wednesday, May 1. Kick-off at Prenton Park is 7pm.
