This weekend, the Latvian speedboat pilot Nils Slakteris from Bauške will open this year’s competition season with two ambitious competitions in Mons, Belgium, the athlete himself informed the portal.

He said that 26 of the world’s fastest F4 pilots from all over the world will gather for the first matches of the season. Latvia’s fastest F4 pilot – Nils Slakteris – will compete with the titled pilots from France, Sweden, Finland, Norway and the United Arab Emirates.

After three qualifying races, the pilots who will be given the opportunity to compete in the world championship will be determined, as only the 18 fastest pilots will be allowed at the starting line. The competition will be particularly intense, because everyone who has traveled the long way to Belgium has one goal – to defend the honor of their team and country in “Formula 4”.

Immediately after the F4 World Championship, the prestigious 12-hour endurance race will take place in Mons, Belgium Endurance. “Riga Powerboat team” will defend Latvia’s name in it. In this competition, which will take place from May 11 to 12, “Lonberg” two professional athletes will sit in the F4 speedboat – Latvian, F4 pilot Nils Slakteris and Estonian Stefans Årands, who made his debut in the prestigious F1 class this year. With this team composition, finishing in good positions, receiving titled awards, as well as standing on the podium, the team has been competing for the third year already.

This endurance race is the ultimate test of technique, pilot skill and technician professionalism, as it requires pilots to compete for 6 hours from a standstill over two days, changing pilots every 2 hours, as well as refueling on the water. Until now, “Riga Powerboat team” has been the only Latvian team that has competed in this competition in three years. Also this year, “Riga Powerboat team” does not hide that it has come to climb the podium.
