Jokic received 79 first-place votes and accumulated a total of 926 points, becoming the ninth player in NBA history to win the regular season MVP award at least three times.
He was followed by Oklahoma City Thunder’s Shay Gilges-Alexander in second place with 640 points, and Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic came in third with 566 points.
The leader of the “Nuggets” was a candidate for the MVP award for the fourth year in a row, also receiving the award in 2021 and 2022, but he finished second last year behind Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia “76ers”.
Jokic finished the regular season with averages of 26.4 points, 12.4 rebounds and 9.0 assists, recording a double-double 68 times and a triple-double 25 times during the season.
Currently, the Nuggets are trailing the Minnesota Timberwolves 0-2 in the second round of the playoffs.
