On Friday, April 26, the election congress of Latvia’s richest sports federation – the Latvian Football Federation (LFF) – will take place, where the members must choose the president of the organization and eight other board members. In four years, the LFF has seemingly normalized the situation in football, which was previously characterized by various crises and emergency congresses. However, in four years, LFF has not made public all the information about the 2020 elections and there is still no clarity about one of the most scandalous elections in the history of Latvian sports associations.
Arī pirms 2024. gada vēlēšanām LFF atteicās publiskot gan gaidāmo vēlēšanu, gan 2020. gada vēlēšanu kandidātu sniegto informāciju par saņemto biedru atbalstu. Publiskots ir tikai kopējais saņemto biedru atbalsta skaits, bet nav iespējams pārliecināties par iesniegto dokumentu pareizību.

Ja LFF Vēlēšanu komiteja vēl pirms lēmuma izziņošanas būtu aicinājusi kandidātus precizēt iesniegtos dokumentus, tad, iespējams, turpinājums būtu daudz gludāks. Tomēr 8. aprīlī Vēlēšanu komitejas pirmajā lēmumā pie vēlēšanām pielaisti tikai trīs kandidāti – Andis Rozītis, Viktorija Mihaļčuka un Emīls Latkovskis, kuri visi vēlējās strādāt valdē (un vēlāk tika ievēlēti).

Savukārt pārējie kandidāti pēc tika sadalīti divās daļās – vieniem ļauts precizēt iesniegumus, citu pieteikumi atzīti par neatbilstošiem.
