The striker arrived in Wroclaw after a long rehabilitation. Last season was just the first step on Digna’s way to regaining her athletic form, so ups and downs were inevitable. There was more to the positive – the Latvian proved herself as a very versatile and determined player, becoming the audience’s favorite.

“We know what she had last season. A comeback season after a serious injury. I think she didn’t show all her skills in these games yet. At some point, a crisis came. We talked about that there is a lot of room for progress and the opportunity to improve some things. Before the previous season, rehabilitation was combined with pre-season training,” coach Arkadiusz Rusin explained.

Digna Strautmane showed the tenth best result in the accuracy of three-point shots (37.7%) and only four players of the Polish league attacked more from the perimeter than the “Sleza” forward. She had three double-doubles and was named MVP for the game against Bydgoszcz.

“Fourth place played an important role in the decision. I didn’t finish my work, we didn’t win a medal,” said Digna Strautmane. “The fight for the podium is very important for us. I developed a great relationship with everyone, especially the people who work at the club. Everyone received me very friendly, we have wonderful fans. I will gladly continue to play with many teammates.”

“I will work to improve my game under the basket. I need to expand my arsenal by playing in the “color” and feel more confident in this element. I want to contribute more to the team as a scorer. Of course, I will work on my physical form and speed, because I know how fast and well we play in attack. As a basketball player, I have a lot of reserves. Summer goals – more confidence when attacking the basket and playing in the penalty area.”

The coach supported Digna’s departure to Australia. “I think it’s a good choice to stay in basketball shape. She has started to play better defensively, especially one-on-one. We want to give her a bigger role in the number three position, as was partly the case at Olympiacos. Digi lacks back-to-the-basket play and self-created opportunities for shots from distance.”

The Latvian’s positive energy, determination and will to fight is contagious. “I want the team’s cohesion to be as good as last season. I will do everything to have the best possible atmosphere in the team. Apart from a good mood, results are also important. A medal must be won. Of course, we will aim for gold.”

Digna Strautmane is the darling of the Wroclaw audience. The Latvian always stays long after the game, signs a lot of autographs and never refuses to take photos together. “I will be very happy to return. I can’t wait to meet our fans at home and away games. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff, the president and everyone who helped me to be part of a wonderful club.”

On Wednesday, April 3, the Latvian played her return game in the ranks of the Melbourne club “Ringwood Hawks”, contributing to the victory over “Kilsyth” basketball players in the hall of “Norwood Secondary College” – 83:55 (22:16, 24:12, 24:14, 13: 13). Digna scored five points (2p 1/4, 3p 1/2), grabbed seven rebounds and made four assists in 25:42 minutes.
