The seventh round of the Vecpiebalga darts championship has been played. The experienced one won
Gunārs Sommers, beating Oskar Kuzmans in the final, who has not finished lower than second place in Vecpiebalga this season.
21 dart throwers competed in this round, the young man Martins Gēgeris from Taurene made his debut in the tournament. First, the dart players competed in four groups, of which the best four entered the playoffs, while the winners of the other groups played the “Satisfaction Tournament”, which was won by Arnis Kupčs.
The playoffs usually took place according to the two-minus system. Gunars Sommers, who played the elimination tournament without losses, caused a second loss to Oskar Kuzman, who finished second, in the final with 3:2. The third is Ren Creituzis, the fourth
Andis Ločmelis, followed by Kaspars Kalējs and Renārs Teriška.
At the moment, G. Sommers leads the overall standings with 146 points, O. Kuzmans is two behind, but at the end the seven best stages will be judged, and here the leaders are Oskars, who this year, competing in six stages, won three and took second place in three.
Serious competition also in the further places: Andi Lauv 121 points, Kaspar Kalej 120, Yevgenii Shantar 119 points.
It can also be noted that last weekend two teams of the Vecpiebalga darts club competed in the Latvian team championship. In the first round, it was not possible to get to the podiums, even to the sixth place. The team “Vecpiebalga XO”, in which Jānis Sommers, Andis Lauva, Andris Mednis, Gunārs Sommers played, took eighth place in the 1st league, while the team “Vecpiebalga / Epes garage” – Matīss Bauers, Edžus Ķaukulis, Māris Springis, Jānis Lauks – took 2nd place. they remained seventh in the B group of the league.
The second round will take place in August, and the final tournament in December.
