“Q8” is the TOP-model of “Audi” SUVs, and the program “Tavs Auto TV” of the studio “RJ76 Films” went with it to find out what the buyer of such a luxurious SUV gets by paying 100 or even more thousand euros for it.
In the cabin, you can feel the classic handwriting of “Audi” designers – clean lines and really high-quality finishing materials. As befits an “expensive toy”, various interesting options are also found here – for example, “digital light signatures” allow you to change the “drawing” of the light beams of the front and rear lights. This, of course, does not leave any impression on the handling or dynamics of the car, but it is still pleasant.
The plug-in hybrid drive of the Audi Q8 tested in the program is based on a three-liter six-cylinder gasoline engine with 340 hp, a compact electric motor with 130 kW (178 hp) and 460 Nm of torque, as well as a new, more powerful and liquid-cooled lithium battery – it is placed under the trunk floor. The battery capacity is 22 kWh net (25.9 kWh gross, or the actual usable volume) – and the energy stored in it is enough to drive up to 90 km (according to WLTP data) on electricity alone.
Of course, looking at the price sheet of this car or at its huge 23-inch wheel rims, it becomes clear that hardly anyone would be ready to drive off the asphalt road surface with this all-terrain vehicle. Although the moment it is done, the motorist would be pleasantly surprised by its capabilities. In the version with pneumatic suspension “Q8”, the ground clearance can be increased up to 254 mm. In addition, the “quattro” pin drive is already standard for this model.
