The US car manufacturing company Ram has announced a new model – the 547 hp 1500 RHO pickup truck, which will replace the previous peak of power TRX.
The 1500 RHO replaces the TRX equipped with a 712 hp V8 engine. The successor of the TRX is equipped with a Hurricane 3.0 six-cylinder unit that develops 548 horsepower and 706 Nm of maximum torque, works in combination with an eight-speed automatic transmission, all-wheel drive and BorgWarner active transfer case. The 1500 RHO accelerates to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 4.6 seconds, 100 mph (161 km/h) in 11.7 seconds, and has a top speed of 118 mph (190 km/h). The dynamic indicators of both powerful pickups are practically the same, but the RHO will be $25,000 cheaper, while maintaining the main concept of these models – convincing performance in fast off-road driving.
To this end, RHO has installed a suspension with adaptive Bilstein shock absorbers and a Dana 60 rear axle, electronic locks and an additional damper that dampens axle vibrations under heavy loads. The ground clearance of the 1500 RHO is 300 millimeters and the front and rear suspension travel is 330 and 356 millimeters, respectively.
The RHO features a sports exhaust system, launch control and a drive mode switch with nine profiles: Mud/Sand, Rock, Baja, Valet, Auto, Tow, Snow, Sport and Custom. Complete with 18-inch wheel rims with beadlocks and 35-inch tires, LED lights, steel bumpers, durable towing hooks, bottom guards and running boards that can be made of aluminum or a durable material that is not afraid of driving over rocks or boulders.
There are three displays in the cabin. The center measures 14.5 inches, the instrument panel 12 inches, and another 10.25-inch screen sits on the passenger side. The RHO offers a 12-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat with heating, ventilation and massage, a 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system and leather interior trim. The set of electronic assistants for the pickup includes a frontal collision prevention system with an obstacle avoidance function, intersection, driver fatigue and road sign monitoring assistant systems.
In the US, the Ram RHO 1500 RHO can be ordered now, starting at $71,990.
