The turnover of the international parcel delivery company “Venipak” group has reached 101 million euros in 2023, which succeeded not only by rapidly expanding the parcel network in the Baltic countries, but also by actively developing cooperation with companies focused on e-commerce.

Justas Šablinskas, head of “Venipak”, states that in the long term, it is expected that the services offered to e-commerce companies will become the main key to the company’s success, therefore more and more attention is being paid to team building and combining competencies within “Venipak”.

Permanent investment in parcels

Last year, “Venipak” continued to successfully expand the network of parcel machines in the Baltics: by the end of the year, the total number of machines in Lithuania reached 270, installing 20 new parcel machines and expanding 60 existing ones. In Latvia, the company closed the year with 200 parcel lockers, while in Estonia, 160 new and modern parcel lockers were installed.

“Since 2020, we have been actively developing our parcel network and during the year we have already invested more than five million euros in the Baltic States. Our first market was Lithuania, followed by Latvia, and last year we completed the introduction of parcels in Estonia, connecting all three countries in a single network and making parcel delivery even faster and more convenient. However, “Venipak” does not plan to stop at what has been achieved, so since the beginning of the year we have continued development, responding to market needs and consumer demand,” says J. Šablinskas, adding that the delivery of goods via parcels is becoming an increasingly popular choice as opposed to receiving parcels by courier.

This year, the company plans to expand its network of parcel stations in the Baltic region to 800 parcel stations: 115 new parcel machines will be installed in Lithuania and 75 parcel machines will be expanded. In Estonia, it is planned to install another 30 new machines and expand 50 existing ones by the end of the year. In general, it is planned to invest 1.5 million euros in 2024 in the expansion of the parcel network.

Helping e-commerce businesses grow

Last year was particularly important for the group’s expansion outside the Baltic states, as a Dutch e-commerce wholesaler, currently operating under the name “Venipak Commerce”, was acquired.

The choice of the Benelux countries where to continue growth was not accidental, but a strategic move. In the Netherlands, the e-commerce industry is dominated by the Netherlands, with 74% of all Internet users in the region shopping online, which is 10% more than the European average.

“With this step, we are changing our business model – now we are an e-wholesaler, not just a courier company. This business niche has great potential not only in Europe, but all over the world, where it is just starting to develop. For example, most e-stores are still works directly with suppliers and manufacturers, while we want to offer the best local solution with fast delivery anywhere in Europe within 24 hours,” says J. Šablinskas.

Strengthening the team

In the implementation of its ambitious business plans, “Venipak” also pays attention to employees and strengthening individual teams and competencies. During the last year, the team has increased by 11%, while about 13% have increased their career level in the company.

Investments have also been made in employee retention and qualification improvement, by training 60 middle and senior managers and creating a new training academy, providing special theory instructors. “Our companies in Latvia, Estonia and the Netherlands already have independent managers who are responsible for local teams and achieving specific goals. In accordance with the long-term strategic direction of “Venipak”, the position of head of international development was created last year, which is held by Sabina Bačiuliene. We value her experience in the field of e-commerce, as it is her responsibility to align the services provided by the company in pursuit of exponential growth and the development of a comprehensive order fulfillment service in Europe.”

On the other hand, Sanita Bērziņa has become the executive director of “Venipak Latvija”, who not only has considerable experience in the field of e-commerce, but also in team management. “A lot has been done in Latvia, including the establishment of a stable parcel delivery network, as well as cooperation with the largest e-commerce companies. Our priority is to ensure fast and high-quality delivery of parcels, so improvements are continuously made at all stages of delivery,” says S. Bērziņa, adding that currently the biggest challenge is attracting the necessary workforce, which is especially relevant in the fall, when the waiting period for the holidays begins.

This year, Venipak will continue to transform the approach to e-commerce logistics, offering integrated solutions relevant to the needs of the growing industry. J. Šablinskas indicates that special attention will be paid to automation, increasing efficiency and ensuring a pleasant customer experience.
