On May 31, at the Eleja tea house, the families of Jelgava region who have welcomed a child between November 1, 2023 and April 30 of this year will be welcomed. The event will take place at two times – at 10 and 12 -, the regional municipality informs.

In the period from November 1, 2023 to April 30, 2024, 88 newborns were registered in Jelgava region – 48 boys and 40 girls. On the other hand, this year has brought double joy to the family in Sidrabe, Lielplatone parish, because twins have been born.
The largest number of newborns was registered in Ozolnieki parish – 15 babies, Cenu parish – 14, Gluda and Zalenieki parishes – 7 babies each, Salgale parish – 6, Livbērze, Platone and Svete parish – 5, Jaunsvirlaukas and Lielplatone parish – 4, Elejas, Kalnciema, Valgunde , in Vircavas parish – 3, and in Sesava and Vilce parishes, 2 babies were registered.
The municipality will present a special commemorative token of the municipality to the small municipalities – a silver coin or lucky jar, the obverse of which depicts a child’s footprint with the text “Bring Jelgava county to the world!”, while the reverse of the coin shows the coat of arms of Jelgava county. The coin carries the message that for the municipality, the entry of each child into this world, or the footprint of each child on the land of the county, is a special event.
