A wooden two-story building caught fire on Laboratorijas Street in Riga on Thursday evening, the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) told LETA.

at At 8:41 p.m., firefighters received a call to Laboratorijas Street in Riga, where, according to initial information, a two-story wooden building was on fire.

Firefighters rescued two people from the building using a car ladder, and two more people were rescued by State Police employees before the arrival of the VUGD.

Two people suffered from the fire and were taken to the medics, while 13 people evacuated from the building on their own.

Neighboring houses were also checked, but there was no smoke and evacuation was not necessary.

More than 35 firefighters with eight tankers and three tankers took part in the fire fighting.

At the moment, the work at the scene continues and after the localization of the fire, the burning area will be clarified, as well as the information about the victims and rescued people may be clarified.

At the scene, the second floor of a residential house with an area of ​​150 square meters (m2), the first floor with an area of ​​100 m2 and the roof with an area of ​​320 m2 were on fire, as well as four cars in the yard with an area of ​​24 m2 and the facade of the adjacent house with an area of ​​100 m2.
