A wooden building caught fire on Laboratorijas Street in Riga, a large number of firefighters are participating in the extinguishing work, the “tv3.lv” portal learned from the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD).

The service informs that at At 8:41 p.m., firefighters received a call to Laboratorijas Street in Riga, where, according to initial information, a two-story wooden building was on fire.

Currently, people are being rescued and the fire is being contained. More than 35 firefighters with 11 tanker trucks are participating in the fire fighting.

On the other hand, as the program “Degpunktā” found out, another fire broke out nearby – on Zvātuņu Street – in which the door of the apartment was burnt. Due to the fire, 30 people were evacuated on Thursday evening in Riga’s Zvaņu street, VUGD told LETA agency.

At 8:32 p.m., a call was received to Zvņuņu Street in Riga, where a 10-square-meter door on the fourth floor of a six-story residential building was on fire.

Before the arrival of VUGD, 30 people evacuated from the building. Firefighters rescued two people.

At 8:58 p.m., the fire was extinguished and firefighters are currently working at the scene.

Nine minutes later, VUGD received a call to the nearby Laboratorijas Street, where a two-story wooden building caught fire. Currently, VUGD continues its work on Laboratorijas Street.
