By Thursday, more than 42,000 participants have passed the European exam online, informs Liene Valdmane, representative of the association “European Movement in Latvia”.

The European exam runs for three days this week, during which everyone can take the European exam at their convenience, but only once.

Appropriate questions related to the European Union (EU) have been prepared for each age group. Adults can choose the level of difficulty that suits them or try their hand at both levels of difficulty.

20 questions must be answered in the European exam. On the other hand, 1st to 3rd grade students must answer ten questions. Each participant will receive a confirmation of participation in the exam by e-mail and will find out the number of points obtained. The maximum score is 50.

Last year, more than 42,000 participants took part in the European exam. According to Valdmanes, this year’s participation in the European exam is particularly important, as Latvia’s 20th anniversary in the EU is being celebrated.

This is one of the activities that celebrate Europe Day on May 9, which is dedicated to peace and unity in Europe. This date marks the anniversary of the historic Schuman Declaration.

On May 9, 1950, the French Minister of Foreign Affairs Roberts Šumanis came out with the Schumans Declaration. In his declaration, he presented the idea of establishing a new type of political cooperation in Europe, which would make warfare between European nations unthinkable. Schuman’s proposal is considered the beginning of the current EU.
