A resident of the sweet side
I noticed that an airplane was flying in a circle over Saldus for several hours. The same thing happened on other days. NATO aircraft. I am interested in the reason for these flights.
“Bez Tabu” also addressed other residents in different regions of Latvia, who also revealed that relatively often my army’s aircraft. When asked if this worries them, the majority stated that it does not, because they are sure that the activity in the sky is related to the protection of Latvia and the citizens of the country. True, some of the respondents believe that there could be more information about the activities of the army’s equipment.
Aircraft of the Latvian Air Force and NATO allies continuously protect the airspace, flights take place every day, Zanda Bergmane, a specialist in the Communication Department of the Air Force Headquarters of the National Armed Forces (NBS), informed the population with the “Bez Tabu” radio.

This is done to patrol, maintain pilotage, train and learn. It can be an inconvenience to residents because of the noise, but it’s always good to remember – it’s done to keep our skies safe at all times.
Aircraft can sound more intensively in Latvian skies during military exercises, added NBS representative Bergmane.
NBS informs about the planned flights and exercises on the social media “Facebook”, “X” and “Instagram” as well as on the homepage. Also, in order to reach residents who do not use the Internet, information is transmitted through municipalities, national and regional media.
