By the middle of the day, the police detained six May 9th celebrants, including three in Salaspils

On Thursday until 13.00 in connection with May 9, the State Police started several administrative violation proceedings, one criminal proceeding and detained six persons. Three persons were administratively detained in Salaspils. There, under the influence of alcohol, the men were singing songs praising the aggressor country in a public place, and one of them had a Georga ribbon attached to his clothes, the law enforcement officers informed.

A criminal trial has been initiated in Daugavpils for the justification of genocide, crimes against peace, war crimes. The detained person ran out in front of the journalists’ cameras and expressed his opinion about the leader of the neighboring country.

Two more persons were detained in Daugavpils and Rēzekne. One – came to Dubrovnik park with a backpack with georgette ribbons attached to it. In this case, the law enforcement officers had to use physical force against the violator. The other – in Rēzekne for placing flowers on the site of the demolished “Aloša” monument.

Most of the other administrative violations were recorded in connection with the placing of flowers in the places where the dismantled Soviet monuments were located. Such cases were recorded in Rēzekne and Daugavpils. Also, individual cases were recorded when persons used symbols glorifying military aggression in a public place, for example by placing them in the rear window of a car or playing war glorifying songs from a moving car, another person had a phone cover in the colors of the flag of the aggressor country. Also, a case was recorded when flowers were placed at the burial place next to symbols of military aggression.

The services have also come to the attention of content from social networking sites, where persons have placed symbols glorifying May 9, military aggression and war crimes, respectively, these cases have been recorded and are being evaluated.

On Thursday, the State Police, the State Security Service, municipal police and other cooperation partners are working in an intensified mode throughout Latvia, and according to a previously prepared public order and security plan, extensive forces have been mobilized. According to the need and the current situation, public security measures can be changed and strengthened, according to law enforcement officers.
