On Thursday, until 1 p.m., the State Police initiated several administrative violation proceedings, one criminal proceeding and detained six persons in connection with the celebration of May 9, the State Police informed.
A criminal trial for justifying genocide, crimes against peace and war crimes has been started in Daugavpils. The detained person ran in front of the journalists’ cameras and revealed himself to be the leader of the neighboring country, Vladimir Putin.
Three persons were administratively detained in Salaspils. There, men under the influence of alcohol sang songs praising the aggressor country in a public place, and one of them had a Georga ribbon attached to his clothes.
Two more persons were detained in Daugavpils and Rēzekne. One of them was detained because he came to Dubrovina Park in Daugavpils with a backpack with Georga ribbons attached to it. In this case, the law enforcement officers had to use physical force against the violator. On the other hand, in Rēzekne, a person was arrested for placing flowers on the site of a monument dedicated to the Soviet Army.
Most of the other administrative violations were found in connection with placing flowers in the places where the dismantled Soviet monuments were located. Such cases were found in Rēzekne and Daugavpils.
Also, some cases were found when persons used glorifying symbols of military aggression in a public place, for example by placing them in the rear window of a car or playing war glorifying songs from a moving car, another person had a phone cover in the colors of the flag of the aggressor country.
Also, a case was found when flowers, supplemented with symbols of military aggression, were placed at the burial site.
The services have also come to the attention of content from social network sites, where persons have placed symbols glorifying May 9, military aggression and war crimes, and these cases are also evaluated accordingly.
It has already been reported that on May 9, the State Police and the State Security Service will intensify security monitoring throughout Latvia and promise a “clear and decisive” response to provocations when the glorification of Russian aggression and war crimes is recorded.
