The head coach of the Latvian national hockey team, Harijs Vītoliņš, has named the national team that will go to the World Championship in Ostrava and Prague.
The national team includes three goalkeepers, eight defenders and 14 forwards.
The players’ application for the World Championship will be submitted a day before the start of the tournament – on May 9.
22 outfield players and three goalkeepers may apply for the World Championship in the elite division. At the moment, there are seven debutants in the squad for the World Championship!
During the preparatory phase, the Latvian national hockey team led by Harijas Vītoliņš played a total of eight test matches – Austria (3:2 pm, and 3:2 pm), Finland (2:3 parish, and 2:3), Switzerland (1:5 and 0). :4) and Norway (0:1 parish, and 8:0).
The Latvian national team will start the IIHF WC 2024 on May 11 against the national team of Poland. The next day, our boys will meet France, on May 15 they will play Kazakhstan, on May 15 they will play against Germany, on May 18 they will play against Sweden, on May 19 they will cross sticks with Slovakia, and they will finish the subgroup tournament on May 221 against the USA.
