The list of reimbursable medicines has been supplemented with new innovative medicines for the treatment of oncology and hemato-oncology diagnoses and new medicines for the treatment of psychiatric illnesses, the Ministry of Health (MoH) informed.

In addition to the list of compensable drugs, in May of this year, the existing drugs can be provided to patients with other diagnoses.

The informative report supported by the government provides that seven new medicines will be included in the list of compensable medicines, which will improve the availability of medicines for patients with diagnoses – breast cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, melanoma, multiple myeloma, myeloid leukemia, children with acute lymphocytic leukemia and depression patients.

Also, the six medications already on the compensation list will be additionally paid for patients with diagnoses – breast cancer, kidney cancer, lymphoma, payment of a cholesterol-lowering agent for the diagnoses of heart failure, acute myocardial infarction, chronic ischemic heart disease, cerebral infarction, as well as for patients with venous complications during pregnancy .

To ensure the development of the medication compensation system – the payment of new medications and the expansion of compensation conditions –

it is necessary to redistribute funding for 2024 in the amount of 14.66 million euros

in 2025 – 21.41 million euros, in 2026 and every year thereafter – 23.42 million euros.

The Ministry of Health states that taking medicines correctly and consistently can have long-term health benefits, including increased life expectancy, reduced risk of disability and improved overall well-being.

On January 16 of this year, the Government supported the Informative Report on the Financial Availability of Medicines developed by the Ministry of Health, in which proposals were made in four directions: in the field of drug price formation, in the field of drug price compensation, in the field of equal access and information of medicines, as well as in the field of pharmaceutical care.
