The competition took place at the “Lycee professionnel Jean Guehenno” school in France, in the city of Santa-Manmontron.

In general, within the framework of the “Erasmus+” project, LMMDV was represented by two students – Rebeka Sēlika Stirna and Ieva Shcherbinina, who at the same time also implemented an internship in the specialty.

Educators Andris Garokalns and Edijs Ābelis helped to prepare for the competition, while teachers Toms Vītols and Edijs Ābelis represented the school in the organization of the Parliament of European Lyceums (PLE) as part of the project.

The theme of the contest “Medal for the winner of the Olympic Games” was proposed in connection with the Olympic Games, which will be held in Paris this year.

The competition was organized in three categories: “Jewelry – a medal as a jeweller’s work”, “Drawings – medal drawing, visualization” and “Essay – ideas, concept description”.

The ornaments were made in each school locally and each educational institution presented five ornaments.

A total of eight schools from Italy, Belgium, France, Portugal, Spain, Greece and Latvia participated in the competition.

For the competition the works were made by all the students of the 3rd year Fashion Accessories Design program who chose jewelry design – Rebeka Sēlik Stirna, Marta Kronberga, Alise Gutmane, Marta Ieva Boka, Ieva Shcherbinina and Dāvis Ziemelis.

“The annual competition of the European Parliaments of Lycées took place this year in the middle of France, and participation in it is a great opportunity to broaden the understanding of European educational and cultural issues.

The decoration/medal competition provides an opportunity to view and evaluate the achievements and contributions of students. It also promotes a positive competitive atmosphere and motivation to improve one’s skills and achievements, and the practice in France for two weeks is an unforgettable international benefit.

Gaining experience outside of your own country has a lot to offer, including cultural exchange, improving your language skills and broadening your worldview.

This experience has a positive effect on the student’s personality development and understanding of the world, and also serves as a great opportunity to share this experience and inspire others,” LMMDV pedagogue Edijs Ābelis shares his experience.
