Both moved to Great Britain in 2004 after finishing school. Inese returned to Latvia four years later, but Inga stayed, continued to study, secured a stable job in Nottingham and became a mother to two sons, who are now 11 and 13 years old.

“She lived there for 20 years, paid all the taxes, she worked hard and paid everything on time. She did everything right. Even the day she got a headache, she stayed at work,” Inese said of her twin sister. “The only time in all these years she went to the hospital for help, no one looked at her. I can’t describe how it feels – not being able to get help where you need it.”

On January 19, Inga spoke with her sister on a video call during her lunch break. Suddenly Inga began to complain of a headache. The woman took painkillers and finished her shift at the warehouse. Then Inga went home and slept for five hours until her sister’s call woke her up. The headaches had become stronger, she could not sit still and could not eat.

“She took the blood pressure and it was 156. I remember that. That big number,” Inese said. “I told her – you need to call the hospital, you need to go to the hospital!”

Inga called an ambulance, but was told that no brigade was available. The woman was too sick to drive, so she asked a colleague who lived in the neighborhood to give her a ride. A colleague described her as an active, healthy and energetic person who was always smiling. It is said that Inga “did the work of two people, she worked so fast” in the warehouse.
