The house damaged in the fire was built about 100 years ago, but is not included in the list of cultural monuments. Last year, “Dzirkstele” already tried to find out why this object is not demolished, if there are no plans to restore it. At that time, the municipality explained that the legal details are being sorted out.
Jānis Ziemelis, head of the regional construction board, tells the newspaper that initially all three apartments in this building were private. After the fire, the municipality has become the owner of one apartment. Another apartment is private, it is registered in the land register and this apartment has an owner. An heir has applied for the third apartment and the documents regarding the ownership of the apartment are currently being processed.
At the initiative of the municipality, a survey of apartment owners on the intention to demolish the building has been announced. When an agreement is reached, a corresponding decision of the county council could follow. It is possible that the deputies could consider this issue in one of the nearest meetings of the regional council.
J.Ziemelis says that the process is going slowly because the municipal employees act in accordance with the principle of good management.
