On the evening of April 23, RPP officers, while patrolling in the Imanta area, noticed a man driving an electric bicycle unconvincingly. Seeing the law enforcement officers, the man abandoned his vehicle and ran away.

However, the man’s attempt to escape was unsuccessful, and soon police officers caught up with him in the nearby greenery. During the conversation with the law enforcement officers, the man behaved bravely and aggressively, trying to leave the scene again. However, it didn’t work because the man was heavily intoxicated, couldn’t stand on his feet and immediately lost his balance as he took steps and fell.

Given the man’s behavior and repeated attempts to flee, he was detained. To calm the person down, physical force and a special tool – handcuffs – were used. State Police officers were called to the scene and took over the work at the scene.

The breath of the detained man was later tested with approximately 2.59 parts per thousand of alcohol.

For driving an electric bicycle while intoxicated, if it exceeds 1.5 per thousand, a fine of 170 euros is applied to the driver of the electric bicycle.
