In order to promote the improvement of the quality of the living environment and provide support for citizens’ initiatives, at the beginning of January, the municipality of Ogre region announced the annual project competition “We are creating an environment around us in Ogre region”, within the framework of which groups of residents and public organizations could apply for municipal funding for the implementation of their ideas in improving the surrounding living environment.

By the deadline of the competition – February 13 – the municipality of Ogre region received 86 project applications for the total amount of 150,897.31 euros. In the following period, the submitted projects were evaluated by getting acquainted with the applications and visiting the proposed project implementation sites in person. Based on the evaluation results, at the council meeting held on April 25, the deputies approved 45 of the submitted projects, allocating 80,000.00 euros of municipal funding for their implementation. Within the framework of the projects, it is planned to implement many socially important ideas in the cities and parishes of the region – to improve various sports, recreation and other publicly accessible areas, to expand the offer of sports activities, to diversify leisure opportunities for children and young people, and to carry out other valuable works.
