Our sports veterans win medals – BauskasDzive.lv

Last weekend, the Latvian Sports Veterans and Seniors Union held several competitions, where they determined Latvia’s best sports veterans in floorball, cross country, pole vaulting and barbell pushing. Representatives of our region won various awards.

In Bauska, at Codes elementary school, on April 20, a bench press was held. The team leader Felix Žied informs that the team of Bauska region is in second place in the overall ranking. Individually, in the first group of veterans, a gold medal for Arvi Balodi, a silver award for Sandim Kūm, and bronze awards for Aleksandar Blinkov and Mārci Strauss. In the second group of veterans, a gold medal for Vladimir Ponomaryov and a silver for Pavel Grigoriev. In the next third group of veterans, Dainis Zakis, Sergejs Burilovs and Vladimirs Kovalskis won gold, Ivan Raukenas and Ivars Rigasts got silver. Finally, the oldest participant of the competition started in the fourth group of veterans – 81-year-old Alfons Bluzma won the silver award. Although it should be noted that the participants in this age group are also able to show impressive results – Dainis Reinholds from Aizkraukle, born in 1951, pressed a 175 kilogram weight bar.

On the other hand, on April 21, a floorball competition in the 35+ age group was held in Kočeni. It should be noted that all the participating teams played very fierce battles, which ended with a small goal difference and the “Bauskas” team this time third place.

On the other hand, in Livani, on April 20, cross country and pole vaulting competitions took place. In cross country, in the 50+ group for ladies, the second place is for Dace Kalniņa, while in the 75+ group, the bronze medal is for Inta Liepa, and gold in the 80+ group for Velta Bruce. Bauska county gentlemen were also represented in the competition. Third place in the 50+ group for Edgar Dreimanis. Armīns Gasjūns was also close to a medal, with the fourth place in the 45+ group. In the team evaluation, Bauskas district is in ninth place.
