On April 25, State President Edgars Rinkēvičs met with Matias Kormans, Secretary General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Riga Palace (Mr Mathias Cormann) and his team to discuss the OECD’s latest economic report on Latvia and its recommendations for the development of Latvia’s economy.

During the meeting, the parties paid special attention to the issues included in the report on improving Latvia’s investment environment, developing innovations and promoting productivity. Similarly, access to capital for small and medium-sized enterprises emerged as a significant problem.

“Latvia highly values the work of the Economic Cooperation and Development Organization in the preparation of the economic report. The report notes the geopolitical challenges that Latvia is currently facing and their impact on the economy. The recommendations provided offer clear directions for improvement. It is positive that in many areas they already coincide with the vision of the Latvian government. Latvia has the same opportunities as the other Baltic states. The key word is concrete action. I believe that it is essential to divide the implementation of the received recommendations into tasks, determining responsibilities and deadlines,” said the President E. Rinkēvičs after the meeting.
