Pickets will be held in Latvia from today until April 30 to celebrate the non-violent resistance of Falun Gong practitioners against the persecution in China, inform the organizers of the event.

In Riga, the picket will take place today from 11.30 to 15 at the intersection of Kalķu Street and Siegfried Annas Meierovics Boulevard.

Also, the picket will take place on Friday, April 26, from 9.30 to 11 opposite the Chinese Embassy in Ganibu Dam 5.

On the other hand, on April 30, the picket will take place in Kuldīga from 10 to 14 Liepājas Street 1.

The organizers of the event state that on April 25, 1999, based on the rights granted by the Chinese Constitution, more than 10,000 Falun Gong practitioners from all over China gathered at the State Central Appellate Bureau in Beijing to appeal to the government to release those illegally arrested in Tianjin and beaten practitioners and to recognize their right to practice “Falun Gong” – a practice that teaches to live according to a comprehensive principle expressed in three words – truthfulness, goodness, patience.

Chinese Prime Minister Zhu Zhongzhi met with representatives of “Falun Gong”. Zhu agreed to release the practitioners arrested in Tianjin and promised that the government would no longer oppose Falun Gong. However, a few weeks later, the leader of the Chinese Communist Party, Jiang Zemin, launched an all-out campaign to “destroy reputation, destroy financially, destroy physically” against Falun Gong practitioners.

During the events, people will have the opportunity to express their good will, sign the petition “End the evil Chinese Communist Party”, calling for an end to its existence, spreading its ideology and repressive mechanisms.
