Latvia’s opponents continue to arm themselves – the US hockey team names the first 15 players for the World Cup squad

Among the first 15 hockey players included in the USA national team, Brady Tkaczak was the most productive player in the National Hockey League (NHL) this season. He finished the regular season with 74 (37+37) points in 81 games for the Ottawa Senators.

The team also includes two teammates of Elvja Merzlikin from the Columbus “Blue Jackets” team. Defender Zak Werenski scored 11 goals and 46 assists in 70 games, while forward Johnny Goodreau collected 60 (12+48) points in 81 matches.

The USA national team will go to Slovakia in early May for a training camp, and will face Slovakia in the only test match on May 7.

Latvian and USA ice hockey players will meet in the world championship on May 21, both teams playing the last match in the subgroup.

Last year, in the fight for bronze medals, Latvia beat the Americans 4:3 in extra time.

The 2024 championship will take place in Prague and Ostrava from May 10 to 26.
