Politician and teacher Lolita Gygane has thoroughly annoyed the public with her post about the problem of alcoholism in Latvia.

“Top!” store in Jaunpilis on Saturday. Our nation gets drunk. Such heavy drinks, for example, in France, can be bought if the seller unlocks the glass cabinet and fishes them out from the high shelves with the help of a ladder. As long as the alcohol continues to “pour in the mouth” like this, the nation will continue to drink ,” L. Čigāne shares her observations, publishing two pictures – one shows store shelves, the other shows a person outside the store.

People express their condemnation in the comments of this post – firstly, why did she publish a picture where other people can be seen, and secondly, they blame L. Gygāne for thickening the colors.

Normund: How limited a being must be, who can afford to post pictures of strangers on their social networks, hanging on them whatever tags they have in their head?! Maybe that person sells lakatine? Did not occur to you?

Ieva: Even if the person is unknown and far away from Riga, it is hardly okay to take a picture of a stranger at a store with a slogan about drinking. Don’t take out your frustrations on strangers.

Izidor: This attitude towards cyclists is not inclusive!

Rudīte: You are addicted if you only see these shelves.

Scooter: Stop spreading nonsense! In Poland you can buy everything 24/7…

Rolando: Alcohol doesn’t lick anyone’s mouth. Availability of alcohol has little to do with alcoholism.

Rita: I’d sue you instead of that guy.

Ainars: For example, in France…? Then, for example, in Germany, the offer of alcohol is much larger, it is much cheaper, and light alcohol (beer, wine, champagne) can be consumed from the age of 16, but in the presence of parents from the age of 14. Is it really (only) the availability of alcohol that is the problem?

Edit: Well, this is as primitive as possible. And that’s what a politician says. Alcoholism is combated by moving it to higher shelves. Is she serious? Really? Yes, and photographing strangers and publishing – how does it fit with ethics and the law?

Ineta: Not to mention the fact that a person who does nothing wrong and illegal is being photographed and published, the rest is also nonsense. In Italy (at least Sicily) you can buy 96% alcohol in every grocery store because they make Lemoncello at home from their own backyard lemons and the alcohol brings out the flavor better.

Eric: The nation is also obese, which is the basis for cardiovascular disease and premature death. As long as the food continues to “flow in the mouth”, the nation will continue to get fat. Ban the food!

Eve: The very post with a picture of the bottles can only cause a smile for the desire to raise one’s tail, BUT posting a photo of a person without (!!!) his permission really smells very much like court proceedings. Phew! It is not difficult to find this person in Jaunpilis in order to ask how it was with permission for the photo and publication there
