Latvian textile artist, sister of composer Raimonds Pauls, Edith Pauls-Vignere, some time ago turned to the manager of her house with a request to install a railing at the entrance stairs, so that entering and exiting the building would be safer, “4.studija” reports.

She has lived in the house for 40 years, made all the payments honestly, so she believes that such a request for a railing is nothing extraordinary. The house manager conducted a survey of residents about the installation of railings. The cost would be 230 euros. But the decision was unfavorable to the artist, the majority was against it.

She says that her brother also always sighs sadly when he comes to visit, when he sees the stairs without a handrail. She emphasizes that even a few steps can be difficult for seniors and if there is nowhere to stand, then it becomes a real test.

The house manager tells the program – if the majority of residents are against it, nothing can be done.

Her friend Dzintra Vilks heard the pain of the artist and took action – she brought a branch fallen by a storm from the forest and installed a railing. “If the neighbors will take it, let them take it. I can pay the required amount myself,” said Edith Pauls-Vignere. The neighbor interviewed by the program says that she is not happy with the design, asking the manager to conduct a new survey in order to install railings when they fit into the overall interior of the house.
