She pointed out that easing the work for entrepreneurs is stipulated in the government’s declaration, and reducing the bureaucratic and administrative burden in the country is one of the priorities of the Cabinet of Ministers this year.

According to the Prime Minister, too much bureaucracy hinders business activities and the development of the Latvian state in general.

Bureaucratic processes, according to the prime minister, “accumulated over the years”, and it is common that new procedures and the legal framework are introduced after some denials and the search for the guilty.

“And then there’s the paperwork to do, and that’s how it is [filmā] “Limousine in the color of Midsummer’s Night”: the papers are in order. And I think that this story has become somewhat folklorized in the whole action. Well, yes, it’s not easy,” the Prime Minister admitted.

After the Zolitude tragedy, the construction industry has been reregulated. This was done out of necessity, but the fragmentation in this area hinders, as a result of which approximately 60 regulatory acts will have to be changed, said Siliņa.

Also, according to the Prime Minister, it is necessary to facilitate work in other areas of business, including the banking and agricultural sectors, where there are also complaints about excessive bureaucracy.

“This is the question of the moment, because such a large bureaucracy does not help entrepreneurs. We will work very purposefully, [lai mazinātu birokrātiju]” Silina promised.

She said that the government has already adopted an informative report on how to reduce bureaucracy in Latvia. One of the steps towards reducing bureaucracy is the government’s recently adopted regulation, which provides that in the future the registration of a private house will not require a building survey in the area.

CONTEXT:

The excessive bureaucracy and procedures in Latvia were just criticized by the President Edgars Rinkēvičs, speaking about the search for the director of the Latvian Investment and Development Agency (LIAA). “We’ve already gone a bit crazy with the procedures, the bureaucracy, not the result,” said Rinkēvičs.
