On April 20, the 1st stage of the Latvian Cup in stand-up shooting took place in Kuldīga. The competition took place both in the round and in the trench stand, the portal was informed by the Latvian Shooting Federation.

Dainis Upelnieks, the winner of the round stand, shot 69 plates in the main competition, and 53 plates in the final. In second place is Valdis Kalējs (70 plates in the main competition, 45 plates in the final). In the overall ranking, the junior athlete Robertas Ķeniņas also took third place (70 plates in the main competition, 36 plates in the final). In the junior competition, the previously mentioned Roberts Kēniņš took first place. The second is Richard Zorov, and the third is Zane Zvaigzne.

In the evaluation of the teams at this stage of the cup competition, the first place goes to the team “Kuldīgas viesti”, the second place to the team “Jelgava”, and the third place to “Iecavas zirnieki”.

Father and son Tālis and Kārlis Jurgenovski fought for victory in the trench stand in the final. Both also have similar qualification results – 57 plates. This time experience prevailed and the victory went to Talis Jurgenovski. Kārlis Jurgenovskis in second place. The third Raitis Onužāns, who had the best result in the qualification (60 plates), but lost to Jurgenovski in the final. Kārlis Jurgenovskis was the best in the junior competition. In second place is Mārtiņš Freimanis.

In the team evaluation, the Saldus stand shooting team (Jurgenovskis Tālis, Jurgenovskis Kārlis, Raivo Tuka) are the winners, leaving behind the hosts from Kuldīga (Mārtiņš Turkopulis, Mārtiņš Freimanis, Raitis Onužāns). The third Koknese incomplete team (Normunds Bērziņš, Raivis Bērziņš).

The 2nd stage of the Latvian Cup stand shooting will take place on June 22.
