Last season’s champion RFS will host “Jelgavu” today in the opening round of the fourth round of the “Tonybet” Latvian Football Premier League, while “Daugavpils”, the current vice-leader of the tournament, will visit the “Metta” team.

“Daugavpils” and “Metta” will start the match first at 17:00 on the football field of Riga Hanza Secondary School. Both games will be broadcast live on the “Sportacentrs.com” platform and the TV4 channel.

After a goalless draw in the first match of the season against Jelgava, Daugavpils have won success in the next two games, defeating Grobiņa/LFS and Tukums 2000/Telms with 2:0 and 3:1, respectively.

Meanwhile, “Metta” started the season with a failure against “Valmiera” (0:2), but then scored two victories, beating “Liepāja” with 2:0 and “Jelgavu” with 1:0. Last season, “Daugavpils” and “Metta” played tied twice (0:0 and 1:1), while Daugavpils (4:2) and Riga (3:2) celebrated their victory.

On the other hand, RFS will host “Jelgavu” at “LNK Sport Park” at 7 p.m. RFS started the season with a victory over “Auda”, followed by a defeat against “Valmiera” (0:1) and a convincing victory over “Liepāja” with 3:0. After a draw with Daugavpils in the first round (0:0), Jelgavnieki lost to Tukums 2000″/”Telms” with 2:3 and lost to “Metta” footballers with 0:1.

Last season, in the matches between the two teams, RFS was superior in all four meetings of the Super League, as well as in the round of 16 of the Latvian Cup. In the continuation of the fourth round, on Thursday “Tukums 2000″/”Telms” will host newcomer “Grobiņa”/LFS and “Riga” will face “Liepāja” at home, while “Valmiera” will visit “Auda” in the final match of the round on Friday.

In the tournament table, only “Valmiera” has scored the maximum nine points after three rounds, “Daugavpilij” has seven points, “Riga”, “Tukums 2000″/”Telms”, RFS and “Metta” have six points each, “Auda” has won one point. , “Grobiņa” and “Jelgava”, but “Liepāja” has no points.

The Premier League championship with the participation of ten teams takes place in four rounds, with each team playing 36 games. 180 games are expected to be played until November 9. Last season, RFS became the champion for the second time, which ensured victory only in the last round, winning over “Metta” team with 1:0.
